BIOGRAPHY

Born in Rome, Roberta Mameli graduated from the Nicolini Conservatory, in Piacenza, as a singer and a violinist. She worked closely with Bernadette Manca di Nissa, Ugo Benelli, Claudio Desderi, and Enzo Dara.

A prolific Handel singer, Roberta performs Giove in Argo with L´arte del mondo conducted by Werner Ehrhardt (Händel Festspiele in Halle), Teseo with Modo Antiquo and Federico Maria Sardelli (Beaune Festival), Josabeth Athalia with Capella Cracoviensis and Paul Goodwin, Nerea Deidamia at the (Theater an der Wien and Braunschweig), Ginevra Ariodante (Turin and Bucarest, Angelica Orlando (Versailles), Poppea Agrippina with Modo Antiquo and Sardelli (Beaune Festival), Melissa Amadigi with Il Complesso Barocco (Theater an der Wien), and Atalanta Serse with J.C. Spinosi at the Konzerthaus Dortmund.

Other highlights in the baroque repertoire include Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda and Il ballo delle Ingrate (Cremona and Regensburg), Nerone L’incoronazione di Poppea under the baton of C. Cavina (Hannover), Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo ( Santander Festival), the title role in Traetta´s Armida with Diego Fasolis (Festival della Valle d´Itria), Adonis La púrpura de la rosa by Torrejon (Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci), and Jommelli’s Isacco with Opera Rara.

Also recognised for her work singing Vivaldi, Mameli is taking part of re-discovered operas, working with Jordi Savall in Teuzzone (Teatro Liceu, Barcelona), with Ottavio Dantone for Incoronazione di Dario (Turin Teatro Regio), with Federico Maria Sardelli for Orlando Furioso at the Festival de Beaune that will be a World Premiere, as well as Motezuma at the Festival di Cervantino-Mexico.

Her extensive repertoire comprises Herodiade San Giovanni Battista by Stradella (Utrecht, Viterbo and La Chaise-Dieu), Proserpine Orfeo ed Euridice by Fux with Le Concert des Nations conducted by J. Savall (Styriarte Festival), Aristea L’Olimpiade for Opera Rara with Accademia Bizantina and Dantone (Krakow), and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in Turin.

Roberta also sings Mozart and is seen as Dorabella Così fan tutte and Donna Elvira Don Giovanni under R. Terakado at the Hokutopia Festival, Tokyo, as well as Susanna Le nozze di Figaro at the Opernhaus of Kiel.

On the concert platform, performances counts Vespro della Beata Vergine by Monteverdi in Tokyo and Recitals in Osaka, Requiem by Mozart under C. Hogwood at the Anima Mundi Festival Pisa with Choir and Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence), Messiah (Prague) with Collegium 1704, and Die Schöpfung by Haydn with the Ulster Orchestra conducted by Jean-Luc Tingaud (Belfast).

Her vast discography sees collaborations with the label Glossa with whom she records a solo album titled ’Round M: Monteverdi meets Jazz. CD that received the 2010 bestselling CDs. Roberta also appears on the Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and Cavalli’s Artemisa, also for Glossa. For the Naïve Vivaldi edition, Roberta Mameli records Teuzzone with Jordi Savall, Orlando Furioso (1714) with Sardelli, Catone in Utica with Alan Curtis, as well as Incoronazione di Dario with Dantone and Salieri’s La Scuola de’ gelosi  Sony Classics recordings.
