BIOGRAPHY

Miriam Albano was sixteen when she began studying singing with Stella Silva at the Conservatory in her native Venice. Since 2012 her teacher has been Claudia Visca at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna, where since 2015 she has also been studying for a master’s degree in Lied and Oratorio with Charles Spencer and Robert Holl.
Miriam Albano gained her earliest experience of opera in 2012 as Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice) at the Teatro Malibran in Venice. The following year she appeared as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Schönbrunn Schlosstheater in Vienna and in 2015 made her debut at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music as Sidonie in Lully’s Armide. Among the works in which Miriam Albano has been heard in the concert hall are Vivaldi’s Gloria under Diego Fasolis in Lugano and Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été under Leopold Hager in the RadioKulturhaus in Vienna. She presented an evening of arias with the ensemble Il Gene Barocco at the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad as long ago as 2011. Within two years she had also given her first song recitals in the Doge’s Palace in Venice and at the Beethoven Center in Vienna.
Miriam Albano has won prizes at several international singing competitions, including second prize in the 2014 Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition and the prize awarded by the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles at the 2014 Pietro Antonio Cesti Singing Competition for Baroque Opera in Innsbruck, both first prize and song prize in the 2015 Ada Sari Competition in Poland,  both the Mozart Prize and the European Opera Centre Award at the 2016 Francisco Viñas Competition and the 2nd Prize of the Neue Stimmen.

As a participant in the 2016 Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project, Miriam Albano is appearing in The Fairy-Queen for Children. Since February 2016 she has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble where she makes her important operatic debut as Cherubino in Nozze di Figaro, Annio in Clemenza di Tito.

Miriam Albano is finalist at the BBC Cardiff Competition Singer of the World 2017.
