He was born in Japan and he has been living in Italy for a long time. He completed his master degree at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He also studied vocal music in Bologna with M° Fabbrini and singing with William Matteuzzi and Gloria Banditelli.
He won the International Competition in Bruges, Belgium. He made his debut in the role of Don Ramiro in Cenerentola, Edoardo in La Cambiale di matrimonio by Rossini; Basilio in the Nozze di Figaro, Pedrilio in Mozart’s Die Entfürung aus dem Serail; Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni under the direction of Paul Connely in Tokyo.
Soloists of Bach Collegium Japan and Masaaki Suzuki for a long time, he is one of the most required tenors for Bach and Baroque repertoire in general.
He recorded several works by Bach, Buxtehude, Vivaldi, Handel and Schütz touring in Europe, USA, Australia, Israel and of course Japan. Among others, he collaborated with Jordi Savall Philippe Herreweghe, Sigiswald Kuijken, Andrea Marcon, Antonio Florio, Giovanni Antonini, Ottavio Dantone.
He performed in Mendelssohn’s Elias with M° Sawallish in Tokyo. He was Evangelista in Johannes Passion, in Matthaus Passion, in Weihnachts Oratorium by Bach; he also sang in Bach Messe in H-moll, Magnificat, Cantatas; Handel’s Messiah; Mozart’s Requiem; Die Schöpfung by Haydn; Monteverdi’s Il Vespro della Beata Vergine, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, working in Italy and abroad with famous ensembles such as: Les Concert des Nations, Europa Galante, Il Giardino Armonico, Cappella de’ Turchini, Accademia Bizantina, Venice Baroque Orchestra, La Venexiana, La Risonanza.
He sang with Il Giardino Armonico to the Styriarte festival of Graz and was invited by Europa Galante to take part in a Scarlatti program in an extended Spanish tour. He also played the role of Eurimaco in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria with Ottavio Dantone in Cremona and took part in an important tour in America with Bach Collegium Japan with both Bach’s Passions.
He also took part in Handel’s Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno and La Resurrezione with La Risonanza and Fabio Bonizzoni in a tour of concerts around Europe.
During his long collaboration with Jordi Savall he sang in several projects: Monteverdi’s Orfeo and Vespro della Beata Vergine; Bach’s B minor mass and Vivaldi’s Teuzzone.
Recent engagements include: Montezuma by Graun in Potsdam and world première of Cavalli’s La Rosinda again in Potsdam and Bayreuth; a European tour with La Venexiana and recording for Glossa of Monteverdi’s Orfeo and L’Incoronazione di Poppea with various distinctions such as Grammophon Award; Vinci’s Partenope in Beaune and Cité de la Musique in Paris; Montezuma by De Mayo with Cappella de’ Turchini in Aschaffenburg and at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples; Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte in Japon; European tour with Bach Collegium Japan and Maasaki Suzuki etc.
