Marina De Liso
She studied singing at the Conservatory of Rovigo, where she obtained her diploma with distinction. She continued her studies at the Music School of Milan, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque singing under Claudine Ansermet. In 2001 she won the «Toti Dal Monte» Contest in Treviso and in 2002 the «As.Li.Co.» Contest in Milan.
In 2001 she made her debut in Falstaff as Ms Quickly in Italy. Afterwards she sang Alcina in Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso and Dido and Aeneas in Vicenza and Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri in Teatro alla Scala in Milan by the side of Juan Diego Florez. Her other roles in classical repertoire include: Marchesa Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims under the baton of Alberto Zedda; Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro in Genoa and Annio in Mozart’s Clemenza di Tito; Ragonde in Le Comte Ory at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and Flaminia in L’innocenza Giustificata by Gluck in Cologne, recorded by Harmonia Mundi..
Marina de Liso recently made her debut in the title role of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro lirico in Cagliari, Rosina in the Barbiere di Siviglia under the baton of
Jean-Chistophe Spinosi at Toulouse Grands Interprètes Festival and Brest; Tauride in Handel’s Arianna at the Barbican Center with Christopher Hogwood and Didone (title role) of Cavalli at the Teatro alla Scala of Milano with Fabio Biondi.
Besides the classical repertoire she is particularly fond of baroque music where she has become one of the most requested mezzo/alto of her generation. In the last two years she performed the following Handel’s roles: Arsace in Partenope in Ferrara and Modena conducted by Ottavio Dantone and the Accademia Bizantina; Rosimonda in Faramondo with Diego Fasolis in European tour and recorded for EMI; Cornelia in Giulio Cesare in Genova; Andronico in Tamerlano with Emmanuelle Haim in Paris Théâtre des Champs Elysées;
Medoro in Handel’s Orlando; Claudio in Silla with Fabio Biondi in Santa Cecilia in Rome and Fileno in Clori, Tirsi e Fileno in Hanover with Andreas Spering.
Furthermore she sang Asteria in Vivaldi’s Bajazet with Fabio Biondi in most of the major European venues and in Japan; Speranza in L’Orfeo at Theatre du Châtelet in Paris and in Strasbourg with Emmanuelle Haïm; La Senna Festeggiante and Tamiri in Vivaldi’s Farnace with Jordi Savall; Cavalli’s La Didone at La Fenice in Venice and in Turin; Narcissus by Scarlatti in Luzern, London and Bucarest; Vitellia in Vivaldi’s Tito Manlio at the Barbican in London with Ottavio Dantone: Oloferne in Juditha Triumphans in Spain; Pergolesi’s Il Prigionier Superbo with Andrea Marcon, Giustina in Pergolesi’s Flaminio and Adriano in Siria (title-role) at the Pergolesi Festival in Jesi; Mozart’s
La Betulia Liberata in France with Antonio Florio in Beaune etc.
In concert she performed with Accademia Montis Regalis, La Venexiana, Accademia Bizantina, Orchestra Accademia di Santa Cecilia, The English Concerts; Europa Galante, Le Concert des Nations, Le Concert d’Astrée, Academy of Ancient Music, Ensemble Matheus, Il Giardino Armonico etc.
She has made several recordings for prestigious labels. Among them: Handel’s Faramondo for Emi; Messaggera in Monteverdi’s award-winning Orfeo with La Venexiana and Saint-Saëns’s Cantatas with Hervé Niquet for Glossa.
Recent and future engagements include: L’Italiana in Algeri (title-role) at Teatro Regio in Turin; Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso (Angelica) and Rossini’s Barbiere (Rosina) with Jean-Christophe Spinosi; Vivaldi’s Farnace (Tamiri) with Diego Fasolis on a European Tour (Bremen, Bilbao and Ambronay). At the Innsbruck international Festival she will sing Hasse’s Romolo and Ersilia (Title role) under the baton of Attilio Cremonesi. With Harry Bicket and The English Concert she sang a solo recital in Istanbul and Aci, Galatea e Polifemo soon in Europe etc.
