Ugo Guagliardo
Born in Palermo, Ugo Guagliardo graduated in Philosophy at the University of Palermo and in Piano and singing at National Conservatory of Music “V. Bellini” Palermo.
He won several national and international contest and he has followed courses of improvement held by Magda Olivero, Gabriella Tucci, William Matteuzzi, Romolo Gazzani, Enzo Dara, Katia Ricciarelli, Renato Bruson and Alberto Zedda with the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro.
He is specialized in Rossini’s and belcanto roles. He has performed in the following productions: Assur in Semiramide staged by P-L Pizzi in Teatro dell’Opera in Rome; Don Basilio in Rossini’s Barbiere di Sevilla in Belcanto Festival at the Grand Théâtre de Genève; Don Profondo and Lord Sidney in Il Viaggio e Reims and Stabat Mater conducted by A. Zedda at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Petite Messe Solennenne in the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Alidoro in Cenerentola in Bruxelles Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie Bruxelles under the baton of M. Minkowski.
He has sung many of Mozart’s important roles, including: Don Alfonso in Così Fan tutte at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo under the baton of Marc Soudant; Masetto in Don Giovanni in Bunkamura Theatre of Tokyo and La Monnaie of Bruxelles conducted by Kazushi Ono; Don Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro in Teatro Regio in Turin and La Clemenza di Tito with G. A. Noseda.
Furthermore he has also performed Faraone in Aida; Il Gran Sacerdote di Belo in Nabucco; Samuel in Un Ballo in Maschera in Teatro Massimo Palermo; Il Pirata in Ancona and Opera de Marseille; Colline in La Boheme in Teatro Pergolesi Jesi etc.
Within the ancient and sacred music he has sung Vespro della Beata Vergine by C. Monteverdi; L’Enfance du Christ by Berlioz; Requiem by G. Verdi; Gli Amori di Apollo e Dafne by F. Cavalli; Stabat Mater by Rossini; Requiem by Mozart; L’Incoronazione di Poppea by C. Monteverdi; La Dirindina and Serpollo e Serpilla by A. Scarlatti
conducted by G. Antonini.
