Benoît Arnould
Benoît Arnould studied singing at the conservatory in Metz before going to work with Christiane Stutzmann at the conservatory in Nancy, where he obtained a gold medal, a diploma and a first interregional price improvement in lyrical chant, which concluded his studies in June 2007. He won the “Classical lyric revelation of Adami 2007”. He also obtained a licence in Musicology at the Sorbonne University.
His career as a soloist began with the Academy of Music Porrentruy, Switzerland, conducted by Michael Radulescu and quickly debuted operatic roles with the Concert Spirituel, conducted by Hervé Niquet, singing Arcas in Charpentier’s Médee (Royal opera of Versailles, Auditorium de Lyon, Salle Gaveau and DVD) and Ascalaphe in Lully’s Proserpine (Cité de la musique and recording for Glossa). In later repertoires he sang Brander in the Faust’s Damnation by Berlioz conducted by Jacques Mercier and created the role of the Lieutenant in the opera Les Sacrifiées by Thierry Pécou.
He has performed many oratorios including Christ in Bach’s Passions, Petrus in Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives, Mozart’s Masses and Requiem, the Childhood of Christ by Berlioz, Lucifer in La Resurrezione by Handel and Rossini’s Solemn mass, with Hervé Niquet, Vincent Dumestre, Benoît Haller, Françoise Lasserre, Daniel Reuss and recently under the baton of Peter Neumann, Winfried Toll (with Kammerorchester Basel Orchestra) in different festivals as La Chaise Dieu, Sablé, Ambronay, Rheingau Musik Festival, Romanische Nacht Köln, Musikfest Bremen, Seville, Fes, etc. and important venues as Salle Pleyel, KKL Luzern, deSingel, Washington at the Library of Congress, Victoria Hall in Geneva etc.
He has taken part in several recordings including Les Grands Motets by Desmarest, Lully’s Proserpine and Missa Assumpta Est Maria de Charpentier with Concert Spirituel, the Cavalli’s Ormindo with the Paladins conducted by Jérôme Correas, Musikalische Exequien and Historia der Auferstehung Jesu Christi by Schütz, Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri with La Chapelle Rhénane (Choc du Monde de la Musique) and Weckman’s Cantatas.
With Marc Minkowski, he performed Bach’s Johannes Passion and will perform Matthäus Passion next season in a very important tour in Europe (Salle Pleyel, Bilbao, Frankfurt, Cuenca…). In summer 2011, during the Beaune Festival Benoît, Arnould will sing Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte) with Marc Minkowski and in Rameau’s Dardanus Antenor with Raphaël
Pichon. He also will make his debut with Ton Koopman on Purcell’s King Arthur and with Philippe Herreweghe in Saintes Festival for Bach’ Cantatas.
