Allegorica

Paolo Monacchi
managing director

ALLEGORICA Opera Management was founded by Paolo Monacchi in 2002.
He studied and practiced singing on various occasions from 8 to 22 years old. During this time he obtained a master’s degree in Science with top marks and honours. At only 26 years old, he decided to dedicate himself entirely to creating a business based on his life-long passion: the enjoyment of singing and the great music from the past.

From the very beginning the aim of the Agency has been to maintain a personal approach in harmony with the artist’s needs. Allegorica’s main purpose is to collaborate with the artists in order to create custom-made projects in accordance with the various phases of their career.
Every Artist is represented by Allegorica in general management, Worldwide or at least in European territories.
In 2005, Paolo moved to Paris to offer new opportunities to Allegorica’s artists in the mainstream international market.
In 2009, he decided to create a new young team and Delphine Chretien and Antonio Spagnuolo joined Allegorica to develop new ideas and perspectives for Allegorica’s artists. Together with Paolo, Antonio works primarily on the Italian market, while Delphine deals with all the other countries.

Today, the business is engaged in the management of lyrical artists in the traditional operatic sector, with particular attention to the Baroque and Belcanto repertoires. Such a distinctive hallmark has permitted the agency to achieve, in a brief period of time, a privileged position functioning as an international reference point for the greater part of the principal operatic directors.
During the last 10 years Allegorica has led Paolo to many of the most celebrated theaters and festivals of the world: Opera de Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Covent Garden, Salzburg Festival, San Francisco Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Sydney Opera House and many others.
He is regularly summoned to be part of distinguished juries in international singing contests.

Today, the agency has its administrative office in Urbino – Italy, its main operative office in Paris and a recently established office in Milan.
Allegorica has a privileged partnership with the franco-german agency Music Concept which manages some of the most prestigious ensembles in Europe.

Delphine Chretien
Artists’ manager & artistic coordination

Before studying with well-known artists such as Brigitte Hengerer, Alexander Madzar and Hortense Cartier-Bresson, I studied piano at the conservatory in Boulogne Billancourt, where I obtained a gold medal, a diploma of musical study which concluded my musical studies in June 2007.

Due to a secondary course at the Cultural Management Institute in Paris, I had the opportunity to begin the administrative business in the artistic division at the Academy-Festival of Arcs under Michel Dalberto. Three years of fantastic experience, which permitted me to use all my musical knowledge for the audience, young students and famous musicians’ service.

After that, my path led me to the early music repertoire and ensemble in charge of the production at the Ensemble Matheus and, later, assistant to Emmanuelle Haïm and the general manager of Le Concert d’Astrée.

Since March 2009, thanks to Allegorica’s Artists, I am excited to continue to develop, collaborating with the most important European promoters, artistic directors and heads of casting. I strive to work as close as possible with singers in order to build their career according to their own goals, keeping in mind and their vocal and musical qualities without forgetting their individual personalities.
In particular, I follow the north European market.

Antonio Spagnuolo
Artists’ manager & artistic coordinator

Born in Catania, I studied violin and piano at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini in Catania and also singing at the Conservatorio in Caltanissetta and with Bianca Maria Casoni in Milan.

During my artistic training I performed as a soloist (modern operas, musicals and various pop projects) and as a tenor in choirs in several operas at La Scala in Milan, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Sferisterio in Macerata and during international tours in Japan and Russia.

Alongside my love for music I obtained a scientific degree with “full marks” specializing in Marine Biology, taking part in a new ethological research project on behavior and reproduction of northern elephant seals. I stayed in the Pacific ocean island of San Benito (Mexico) for the entire breeding season of 2005 to record a large sample of elephant seals vocalizations, which represent the first established base of information about acoustic communication in this species and which were studied with spectrographic analysis of sound. Together with music, this experience shows my interest in sound and acoustic communication in general.

I currently reside in/I now live in Milan, where I have been working for Allegorica since 2009. My primary focus is on the development of the Italian lyrical market.
In Particular, I follow the Italian market.
